The CHAI Hackathon, Connecting Humans to Artificial Intelligence, is more than a competition. It’s a cause, a movement and a community. As Africa races to catch up in the global AI revolution, we believe the most powerful technology we can invest in is still human intelligence. Not just code, but curiosity. Not just machines, but meaning. AI will reshape our industries, but people will decide its purpose. So while the CHAI Hackathon brings together 500 ethical hackers, creators, and problem-solvers, CHAI is building a community to explore how African intelligence that is deeply human and deeply local, can shape the future of artificial intelligence. We’re building a future where AI doesn’t replace us, but reflects us and where our values, cultures, and communities are embedded in the systems we build.
